WARNING: Not for the easily offended!

Before I begin running my mouth, I'm going to make this clear is that I am not criticizing Linda Sarsour because she's a Muslim. I'm criticizing her because of her hypocrisy and arrogance. This stamp is only meant to criticize Linda Sarsour, not Islam or Muslims in general. I don't hate or love Islam - it's just a religion. I don't have a problem with Muslim women wearing hijab or Muslims immigrating to Western countries. I'm disabling comments because I don't want SJWs to go batshit insane or Trump supporters/Marine Le Pen supporters to think that I stand with them when I DO NOT.

A while ago, I've been hearing a lot about this woman called Linda Sarsour, who seems to be very prominent among third-wave feminists. I tolerated her at first, and I do commend her for favoring nonviolent resistance to Israel instead of violent resistance, but after a while I began to find her very obnoxious. I've also come to realize that she is the reason why people often associate Islam with the SJW movement.

It is well-known that Sarsour opposes attempts to ban Sharia law in the US (although contrary to popular belief, she has never said that she wants America to have Sharia law) and has even defended certain aspects of it, even though Sharia law is clearly incompatible in a country that is based on separation of church and state. Believe me, separation of church and state goes for all religions, not just Christianity. She also ordered pro-life women out of the Women's March and seems to be playing a key role in driving feminists who don't agree with third-wave feminist goals out of the movement. While rumors about her allegedly supporting Hamas are not true, she is an associate of convicted terrorist Rasmea Odeh.

Sarsour believes that Israel's treatment of Palestinians is a feminist issue. Now, to make this clear, I'm not a Zionist or even a supporter of Israel, but Israel's been pretty decent to women and they do have more freedom there than women in the Arab world do. Women in Israel also got rights faster than women in the US and many countries in Europe. Women in Israel are also required to serve in the military just like the men. While some Muslim countries allow women to join the armed forces voluntarily, others forbid it. Even worse, Sarsour thinks that you can't be a feminist and a Zionist. Sadly, right-wingers have latched on to Zionism, so people often incorrectly assume that Zionism is a right-wing ideology.

Sarsour also seems to pretend that the Koran is compatible with modern society and grants equal rights to everyone. Anyone who knows the first thing about the Koran knows that isn't true. Sharia law may have been fair for Muhammad's time, but it's incredibly unfair by 21st-century standards. So much has changed since that time. It's the same with Bible literalists - you can't expect a book written over a thousand years ago to be compatible with modern society. To be honest, religion shouldn't be a set of rules - it should be a guide to define your relationship with God or whatever higher power(s) you worship.

She also made distasteful Twitter comments about Ayaan Hirsi Ali and some other woman, saying she wishes she could take their vaginas away. Not only is it disgusting and very unprofessional for a high-profile feminist (especially because female genital mutilation is an insanely misogynistic practice), but it's especially bad in light of what Ali's been through. I do recognize that Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a very controversial figure, and I don't agree with some of her views, but she was the victim of abuse in the name of Islam throughout her life, including having underwent female genital mutilation. Ali has also done a lot to help women who were victims of female genital mutilation. I find Ali to be easier to sympathize with than most critics of Islam, especially since she believes that Islam needs to change, so I wouldn't put her in the same league as someone like Marine Le Pen. What made me feel really bad for Ali is the fact that she can't even go anywhere without a bodyguard due to all the death threats she's received.

Other things that Linda Sarsour has done include praising Saudi Arabia's treatment of women (only pointing out the positives, which are grossly outweighed by all the human rights abuses that women there suffer on a daily basis) and attempting to suppress a documentary that exposed honor-related violence in the Middle East. Basically, she thinks misogyny is only wrong when non-Muslims are doing it. She doesn't even care about the SJW ideology that she's supporting - she only cares about it when it's convenient for her.

I wouldn't say that she is a representative for all Muslim women, liberal or conservative. She does fit several stereotypes associated with conservative Muslims, like being from a large family (she is one of seven children) and being married at 17 in an arranged marriage. Among liberal Muslims, there are quite a few reformers who favor changes to the religion, such as not following a literal interpretation of the Koran, being okay with breaking some of the rules of the Koran (such as drinking alcohol, tolerating LGBT people, listening to music), and giving more freedom to women. Among conservative Muslims, there are women who dismiss feminism as a Western idea, kind of like the Muslim equivalent of women like Phyllis Schlafly. However, Sarsour would probably represent the conservative factions of Islam better.

In conclusion, Linda Sarsour is hardly a representative of liberalism and is in fact the face of the regressive left, a movement that is destroying liberal movements. She's not about equality - she's about keeping people who don't agree with her down. She's basically a right-wing lunatic in disguise as a left-wing lunatic. She may have done some positive things, but they're overshadowed by her bullshit. Honestly, if I were Muslim, I'd probably hate her more than I already do, because I'd be embarrassed that people would assume that she spoke for me. Feminists need to stop supporting Linda Sarsour and kick her out of the movement.
