The world does not revolve around cartoons.

One thing I've noticed on deviantART is that a good number of people on here seem to take cartoons way too seriously. What with all the memes floating around, rabid 90s kids, and popular Internet critics like MrEnter (who is probably guilty of it more than anyone else), cartoons seem to have taken on a new light. I admit, I was one of these people when I started using dA, but I've learned not to take cartoons so seriously. Looking back at my old artwork is kind of hard considering I find some of it really embarrassing.

I mean, you're free to criticize cartoons that you don't like, but don't get bent out of shape over a bad, annoying, or offensive cartoon. People getting all worked up about stuff like Johnny Test, Teen Titans Go!, modern SpongeBob, Family Guy, MLP: FIM, whatever is just sad. We get it, you hate Johnny Test - you don't have to draw shitty artwork of your favorite characters killing Johnny.

The 90s kids, of course, are bad with their incessant whining about modern cartoons. Yes, I know that most cartoons on TV these days aren't like your precious 90s cartoons. They even suck out the enjoyment for 90s cartoons. Demanding that networks bring back your favorite canceled shows isn't going to help.

As for MrEnter, the Animated Atrocities sheets he inspired are pretty much inescapable on here. A lot of them are boring and cliche - do we really need more Animated Atrocities sheets for "A Pal for Gary", "One Coarse Meal", "Arnold Betrays Iggy" (I actually think that episode's pretty funny), "Pet Sitter Pat", Tentacolino, or Foodfight? Their repetitiveness, along with my dislike of MrEnter, are the reason why I will NEVER create one. Personally, I'd rather be laughing my fucking ass off at bad movies than making Animated Atrocities sheets for them.

And the bottom line is, cartoons are meant to ENTERTAIN people (especially kids) - not to make moral statements about society or whatnot. Taking them so seriously ruins the enjoyment for other people.

I agree, Cartoons are only meant for entertainment after all. Heck, some of them aren't even meat to be taken seriously nor do they have any intent on educating people. Ed Edd n' Eddy is a good example of this. It's just meant as silly fun. While it's okay for cartoons to have more serious moments, the world doesn't always revolve around cartoons. Especially when cartoon logic is nothing like real-world like.
